Haiti Emergency appeal In response to the emergency in Haiti due to the earthquake, a special collection be taken this weekend to help the survivors. Please forward all funds as soon as possible to the Chancery. All funds will be forwarded to Catholic Relief Services in Baltimore, MD.

As every year, our parish is sponsoring a PRE-CANA Program for all those who plan to get married this coming year. Please note that we hold Pre Cana courses only once a year and this year it will be on the weekend of March 13 & 14th. Pre Cana is a prerequisite for all those who want to have their wedding here at St. John’s. Please register as soon as possible. Просимо звернути увагу, що ми пропонуємо такі курси лиш раз в році і цього року вони відбудуться в днях 13 і 14 березня. Наша церквa цього вимагає від всіх пар. МІСІЇ
21,22,23 і 24-го березня. НЕДІЛЯ ПРОЩЕННЯ Остання неділя передпостового періоду називається Прощеною, а називається вона Прощеною, тому що в цей день усі вірні покликані простити один одному усілякі образи, та попросити прощення за все зле й недобре, що вчинили всім, кого скривдили. Християни мають увійти в постовий період очистившись від усіх образ, кривд і непорозумінь, повинні простити оточуючим, щоб і Господь простив нам наші провини чи то в слові, чи в ділі, свідомі й несвідомі. «Бо як людям ви простите прогріхи їхні, то простить і вам ваш Небесний Отець. А коли ви не будете людям прощати, то й Отець ваш не простить вам прогріхів ваших.» В молитві Господній "Отче наш" ми промовляємо такі слова: "І прости нам провини наші, як і ми прощаємо винуватцям нашим..." Отже, як бачимо, якщо ми не прощаємо своїм боржникам, то не простить і нам Отець наш Небесний. Господь встановив чіткий закон: "Що тільки людина посіє, те саме й пожне!" (Послання апостола Павла до Галатів: 6,7). Якщо ми сіємо навколо себе добро, милосердя, любов, – відповідно й пожнемо сторицею. Коли ж сіємо ненависть, зло, нелюбовність, – такий само зберемо й врожай. "Наверніться – і будете жити", – взиває Господь. Наверніться до милосердя, до прощення, до любові. Розпочніть піст духовний. Скажіть "досить!" ненависті, ворожнечі, розділенню. "Возлюбіть ворогів своїх..." Та чи зможемо, коли не навчилися прощати навіть братові своєму? "Так говорить Господь: "На дорогах спиніться та гляньте, і спитайте про давні стежки, де то добра дорога, – то нею ідіть, і знайдете мир для своєї душі!..." (Єремії: 6,16).
(О. Ведмеденко) А PRAYER FOR LENT Lord our God, merciful Father, when you call us to repentance, you want us to turn to people and to build up peace and justice among us all. According to your promise, let us become, with your help, lights for those in darkness, water for those who thirst, rebuilders of hope and happiness for all. Lord, you offered us your hand in friendship and you sent us your Son Jesus to go with us the road of obedience and loyalty. God, we often hurt this friendship, we act as if we were not your sons and daughters. See the look of shame on our faces. Forgive us, for we count on you. Accept our thanks for continuing to take us as we are and loving us notwithstanding our sins. You seek us out and you tell us: “I am your God; you are my people.” May our response of love go far beyond the demands of any law. May we seek you and commune with you in the deepest of our being and may we express our gratitude to you by going to our neighbor with a love that is spontaneous like yours. Lord our God, you call us to be free people. Set free by Christ’s liberating word and death, may we never again shackle ourselves with self-made chains, of selfish sin and false attachments. Lord our God, many of us never had it so good and so we have become smug and self-satisfied, happy in our own little world. God, may our ears remain open to your word and our hearts to you and to our brothers and sisters. Do not allow us to forget you, or to place our trust in ourselves. Lord God, in your son Jesus Christ you have given us a new name, the name of your Son himself. May we live up to our new destiny, to be people-for-others who serve and commit ourselves together with Jesus, your Son and our Lord for ever.
